New Triple J Survey Reveals Overwhelming Support For Pill Testing At Festivals

Results from a new triple j survey released today reveal overwhelming support in favour of pill testing at music festivals in Australia. 

11,000 Australians aged between 18-29 participated in the youth broadcaster's 'What's Up In Your World' survey, with 83% (sample size: 5,202) saying they would use pill testing if it was available. 

The survey also revealed 55% of participants of that sample range have taken drugs into a music festival.

The results come just over a month after a report from Australia's first-ever pill testing at Groovin The Moo festival in Canberra this past April was deemed an "overwhelming success".

128 punters took part in the trial at the April festival; 85 samples were tested and of that, 50% was found to be pure MDMA, while two samples were deadly.

Meanwhile, 19% of the women (sample size: 9,417) who took part in triple j's survey said they feel unsafe at music festivals, while 14% reported the same at gigs. 

Online piracy is also on the decline, with the survey showing that 71% of participants (sample size: 4,006) have illegally downloaded less music in the past 12 months.
