HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) -Lanai’s airport is getting $10 million in federal funds for improvement work.
The U.S. Department of Transportation grant is part of $779 million dollars in funding for more than 100 airports, nationwide and in Puerto Rico.
“This supplemental funding allows us to invest in important infrastructure needs at the nation’s airports, especially those serving smaller and rural communities,” said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao.
The money for the Lanai City Airport will be used for a runway pavement improvement project.
The FAA announced the distribution of funds Wednesday.
