Texas’ Lone Star Beer, which dates back to 1884, has released its first seasonal offering ever: Rio Jade.

The classic Mexican-style lager draws inspiration from the state’s diverse lands and waterways, and features sweet notes of flaked maize blended with spicy, floral citrus.

The cans stand apart from Lone Star’s signature look, with turquoise complementing the brand’s uniting gold tones and a new, handlettered aesthetic throughout, including in the Lone Star logo. Artist and Burnt Nopal Creative Director Cruz Ortiz designed the packaging, and you can see elements of his signature style throughout the work. In 2019 Ortiz launched Burnt Nopal with his wife, Olivia Flores Ortiz, in response to companies and nonprofits seeking thoughtful design influenced by contemporary art.

The beer will be available through the end of the summer. To find a can near you, click here.
