RAL: How long has the event been running?

HB: This year marks the 5th Annual Sonoma County VegFest.

RAL: How many attendees do you draw?

HB: We have around 4,000 attendees annually.

RAL: What demographic does your event attract?

HB: Everyone! We have an awesome kid’s room and a full schedule of family activities, and a new event for adult singles as well, VegSpeed Dating.

RAL: What makes the event unique?

HB: This is the only food festival in the North Bay area that is purely vegan.

RAL: What kind of activities will be at the event?

HB: We will have over 70 vendors, both indoors and outdoors! Free food samples will be given out, as well as health products and information and natural body care. Books, clothing, and jewelry will also be sold, so there’s something for everyone.

RAL: Any guest appearances?

HB: Yes! We have three rooms of speakers, where there will be veggie cooking demos all day from expert chefs. New this year will be the Animal Film Fest showing a series of award-winning short films from the annual Film Fest in Grass Valley.

RAL: What will the dining options look like?

HB: There will be a full fair food court. Look for healthy raw options like coconut noodles with spicy kraut and ginger sesame sauce to more decadent fare like pesto & mushroom grilled cheese sandwiches. You’ll also find some fun options like vegan fried chicken and waffles and veggie hot dogs with sauerkraut. For dessert, indulge in our ice cream vendors, milkshakes and smoothies, and flaky pastries galore!

RAL: Does the event support a special cause in the community?

HB: The SoCounty VegFest is a fundraiser for a local non-profit called Compassionate Living. They work to end farm animal suffering and encourage a healthy vegan lifestyle to help our community thrive. Compassionate Living support ethical and eco-friendly living in the Bay Area and beyond by highlighting the abundance of plant-based options that heal our bodies, our planet, and our relationship with animals.

RAL: What is the atmosphere like?

HB: Fun, festive, and inspiring with just a dab of education! Past attendees have said it was the most fun, educational, and delicious event they have ever attended, leaving with full bellies and smiles on their faces.
