Smart Irrigation Month is an Irrigation Association Initiative to promote the social, economic, and environmental benefits of efficient irrigation technologies, products and services in landscape, and turf & agricultural irrigation.
Looking back over the last two decades that I have been involved in the irrigation industry, I am amazed at the advancement of new technologies. These technologies have allowed our customers to maintain their lawns & landscapes with less environmental & financial burden.
We take great pride in implementing these solutions & methods, and will continue to update the training and education of our team so we continue to offer the best design and equipment to help you achieve your goals, save you money, and protect the environment.
With that in mind, we are offering a summer "System Tune-Up Special" this month that will focus on giving you options that will increase the effectictivness of your irrigation system.
I am sure that all of you are starting to see the effects of this drought and extreme heat that have set in. This newsletter will also focus on some threats that could affect your property, as well as provide some advice and solutions on how to deal with these threats.

Lawn Fungus & Nutsedge Are Rampant This Year

Lawn Fungus is a particularly nasty intruder! Fungus may appear as rings of mushrooms, streaks in the lawn, slimy areas, spots on individual leaf blades, discoloration, or powdery blotches. Keep in mind that your lawn is a living entity, and it naturally contains millions of fungi spores, Under adverse circumstances, however, such as long rainy seasons, droughts, over-watering, and sub-standard lawn care, fungi can spread out of control, leaving you with a blighted lawn. The good news is that you can treat many cases of lawn fungus—and prevent future cases—just by following good lawn care practices. Using sharp mowing blades, watering very early in the day, and applying a quality fertilizer regularly like our 6-Step Turf Builder Program, For more information on how we can treat lawn fungus. Nutsedge doesn’t play around. It’s a perennial, grass-like lawn weed. Although it’s sometimes called nutgrass, it’s not technically a grass. It’s a sedge. Its leaves are grass-like and yellow-green, and the spiky flower or seed head is yellow. Nutsedge can be distinguished from good grasses by its V-shaped stem. The best way to identify it? If you’ve mowed and a day or two later you see yellowy grass growing higher than your lawn… nutsedge is the culprit. It’s a tough weed to control because its tubers can grow 8-14 inches deep in the soil. Whatever you do, don't try to pull this nasty guy. When pulled, the nut multiplies and it spreads faster. The only way to treat it is with a quality nutsedge application.

We're offering a system tune-up special this month!
Our System Tune-up includes inspection of every sprinkler head, adjusting heads for correct spray pattern, looking for leaks or dry spots, finding any broken heads or bad valves, and setting correct watering time on control unit. We'll also make recommendations on any opportunities to increase the efficiency of your irrigation system, including efficient sprinkler heads, nozzles, and controllers. Includes up to 12 zones & 45 minutes of service time. Normally we ask $75 for a service call, but this System Tune-up special will be only $55 on appointments booked during the month of July.
