Your Comment is Needed by July 11 - the City is deciding on preferred Plans.

The Mission Bay Gateway Plan, along with other plans, is being evaluated by the City as part of the EIR (Environmental Impact Review).  The City is gathering written (emailed) comments to consider in their evaluation.  The more email comments we get in support of MBG and balanced land use principles the better our chances of getting what we want in the end.  Without your submitted comments we may see things we want or even things we currently enjoy - deleted from the final plan.

MBG preserves all the uses of today and adds MORE.  An actual improvement for our community!
Other plans have LESS of all the things we enjoy today. What a waste!
We humbly ask for you to take 3 minutes to tell the city what matters to you.

Here are some bullet points you could use in your email - but please feel free to make it your own - tell the city what matters to you.  AND, Forward this email to anyone who cares about the future of Mission Bay.

Why I prefer the Mission Bay Gateway Plan over other Proposed Plans:

We should pick a plan that balances Recreation, Environment, and Education.

The preferred plan should not reduce or eliminate current uses such as:
  • Parkland
  • The number of campsites / camping near the water
  • The Marina
  • The public's access to the shoreline
The preferred plan should include new important facilities we currently don't have such as:
  • A public aquatic center with a competition pool that can be used for youth and high school sports
  • An amphitheater for public concerts and theatrical performances
  • A skate park and more parkland and shore access
  • An interpretive nature center to enjoy and appreciate the wetlands and wildlife and host students
  • A sand volleyball center
  • An additional full soccer field so soccer doesn't need to be played across baseball fields
New marshland should be added but lets not take away 30 acres of parkland and weaken the peninsula to do it
  • We will already turn current Campland into new marshland - lets keep the parks we have.
  • Marshland on the peninsula would wash away with wave action (as stated by Marine Engineers) - not a sustainable plan
We should pick a plan where the public-private partnerships is able to pay for the improvements and this is not a burden on the tax payers

The preferred plan should be the Mission Bay Gateway Plan.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION
