Apple granted a Registered Trademark for ‘Face ID’

This past week Apple was granted a Registered Trademark for ‘Face ID’ by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Patently Apple reports.

Apple filed its Registered Trademark under International Class 09 covering the following: “Computer hardware and software for secure biometric authentication, and password management and protection for use on computers, handheld mobile digital electronic devices and mobile telephones.”

Last September Goode Intelligence published an analyst report that explored the impact of Apple Face ID on the mobile biometrics market.

Earlier this year KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo told investors the competitive advantage established by Apple’s Face ID and TrueDepth cameras make the iPhone X a “strategic success” regardless of exact sales numbers.
