Indiana Teacher’s Heroism: Imagine What an Armed Teacher Could Do

Yet another school shooting. It’s not really news anymore, is it?

The wrong sources will keep getting the blame: peaceful gun owners, the NRA, and President Donald Trump.

The blameworthy people will never get the blame: The inept FBI preoccupied with bringing down Donald Trump, the teachers unions who will not permit teachers to be armed, and the millions of voters who keep voting for more federal control of education rather than less.

Nevertheless, there’s some good news:

A science teacher reportedly sprung into action during a shooting at an Indiana middle school on Friday, knocking a weapon from the suspect’s hand.

Seventh-grade student Ethan Stonebraker told The Associated Press that his science teacher at Noblesville West Middle School charged at the suspect, who he said revealed his weapon while the class was in the middle of a test.

“Our science teacher immediately ran at him, swatted a gun out of his hand and tackled him to the ground,” Stonebraker said. “If it weren’t for him, more of us would have been injured for sure.”

Two people – a teacher and a student – were hurt after a male suspect excused himself from class Friday morning before returning with two handguns, authorities said. A call about an active shooter came in around 9 a.m. and the student was later detained, according to Noblesville Police Chief Kevin Jowitt.

“We do know the situation resolved extremely quickly,” Jowitt said.

Teachers can save student lives. Not all of them can, but it only takes one. If this science teacher saved countless lives at an Indiana middle school today, just imagine what an armed teacher could do.

Public schools, as we know them, are an irrational entity. They’re more like government-run intellectual concentration camps than the halls of learning so many naive Americans still imagine them to be.

But if we must have government-run schools, we had better make sure kids can attend them without fearing for their lives.

Right now, it takes an absurd level of risk and courage to tackle a student with a gun like this science teacher did today. If we only became more rational, we could meet the growing threat that attending a government-run school imposes on helpless children. School violence is becoming, almost literally, an everyday event. Yet our only answer is to make everyone turn in their guns. That’s it.

Aside from being a good day for courage and heroism, it was a bad day for the poor little twits who skip school to stand for abolishing the Second Amendment. And that’s a good thing!
