A regional crowdfunding platform’s latest campaign is for itself.
The Local Crowd Monadnock launched a campaign Nov. 4 with an overall goal of raising $5,000 by Dec. 10 to expand its services to more towns in the region.
Unlike GoFundMe, on which campaigns are run by public users, people interested in using The Local Crowd Monadnock have to apply and get approval for a campaign.
Monadnock Buy Local hosts the platform, which launched in March 2017. Since then, The Local Crowd Monadnock has managed 13 campaigns that raised more than $90,000 collectively.
The initiative could include only a limited number of towns in the program during its pilot phase. Currently, The Local Crowd covers Keene, Chesterfield, Hinsdale, Swanzey and Winchester.
The fundraiser would pay for platform fees to include more towns, according to the campaign page. It costs The Local Crowd just over $3,500 for the current member towns, but for $5,625, the program could expand to cover the entire Monadnock Region, the page says.
As of this morning, the campaign had raised $1,823 from 23 donors. Contributors can select from a limited number of gifts on the campaign page, if they choose, such as products and gift cards from local businesses.
Donations can be made at c-fund.us/hx2 or offline, by mailing a check to The Local Crowd Monadnock, c/o Monadnock Buy Local, 63 Emerald St. PMB #114, Keene, NH 03431. Checks must be made payable to Monadnock Buy Local.
