The Mozambican government and the European Union are holding their 27th Session of the Political Dialogue in Manica today. The meeting will discuss investment and opportunities, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique says.
The meeting, under the motto ‘Mozambique and the European Union: Towards a Political Dialogue in the Context of New Challenges and Opportunities for Investment’, will be led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique, José Pacheco, the European Union ambassador to Mozambique, Antonio Sanchez-Benedito Gaspar, and the EU Member States ambassadors accredited to Mozambique.
“In the Political Dialogue, delegations will review bilateral cooperation, exchange views on the political, economic and social situation in Mozambique and the EU, as well as on regional and international issues of mutual interest,” the statement adds.
The European Union is one of Mozambique’s main partners, and supports several fundamental areas of the country’s socio-economic fabric.
In February, the European Union and the Mozambican government announced the launch of a project called Promove Comércio, to support trade and development in Mozambique and budgeted at EUR 12 million.
Earlier this month, the European Union announced aid of two million Euros for the victims of Cyclone Idaih, which hit central Mozambique in March, killing 604 people and affecting a further 1.8 million.
