In our final installment of the DAV Insider, we’ll hear from Daniel Goldfine, Video Content Manager. Get to know the man behind every piece of video content DAV publishes, and who makes it look so easy!

What’s your role at the DAV Foundation?

My role at DAV is the Video Content Manager. Basically, it means taking care of every need that we have concerning our video content: creatively, practically and logistically, pre-production through post-production. Essentially, my role comes down to making our video library richer and broader.

What does your average workday look like?

Every day is different but one thing is consistent, the Daily DAV. I start my day by checking the “Daily” folder at the google drive and, if they’re all there, I edit it. If not, I wait some more and check again later. Then I check my mail and my tasks list to see what I have for the day. I usually have a queue of ongoing projects and tasks. Sometimes I work an entire day and even more on one project and sometimes I can get through a few tasks a day.

What do you feel are the greatest challenges in your role?

DAV’s video content is all about… well… a lot of stuff. There’s transparency, PR, marketing, community, educational, informational and more. Every video, every purpose and every idea requires a different approach and technique to tell the story. I guess my biggest challenge is that blank page, that idea that needs expression and choosing the right approach to deliver the message.

Tell us a funny, quirky or strange story from work.

Back in the days, when we were fewer employees, we all shared the same space. Then more people joined the team and we had to move to a bigger office. Because we work in a shared work space the offices here can only hold up to 6–8 people, so we split up. Alick, Hadar, Rachel, and I are in one office. The other office is one of the development teams: Tal, Lior, Shahar and Anatoly. Competition was inevitable even between a tight-knit team such as ourselves so we began to argue which office is cooler and more fun. Our side had all the treats and snacks, but they had a better view. They were coding and “protocoling” and doing their cool developer’s stuff, but we had Alick. The arguments went on and on but we never came to a conclusion. It never really mattered. The important thing was that it gave us motivation and pushed us to do better. For me, that is essential for the common success.

Who’s your favorite superhero or fictional character, and why?

Groucho Marx, because he’s hilarious! I always admired his wit and directness, he has answers to everything and it’s usually sophisticated nonsense. He has a very unique way with words and he and his brothers can turn any scenario into a crazy, out of control, cartoonish chaos. It’s just pure fun that never gets old.

What gets you excited about DAV?

I’ve always been a sci-fi fan and thinking about a future where autonomous cars will take us from place to place and drones making missions will hover over our heads just makes me go WOW! But it’s not only that, it’s the way DAV is building that future that excites me the most.
