Players for WTA Croatia Bol Open on Island of Brač Presented

The player list for the 2018 WTA Croatia Bol Open has been presented at a press conference in Split on Wednesday.

Players from 18 countries, 14 in the TOP 100, will be taking part in this year’s tournament which will be held from 5-10 June at the BlueSun Tennis Center in Bol on the island of Brač.

Fans will get the chance to see former World No. 2 Vera Zvonareva, Ajla Tomljanović, 3-time Grand Slam winner Sara Errani, Croatian player who plays under the American flag Bernarda Pera and former World No.5 Eugenie Bouchard from Canada.

“Alja and Bernarda are both players from Croatian tennis schools and are both in great form. Ana Karolina Schmiedlova who was the top seed at the first WTA Bol Open is also arriving, then we have two of the best Slovenian players in Zidansek and Jakupović and the best Montenegrian female Danka Kovinić. I am especially happy to announce also the arrival of 15-year-old Ukranian sensation Marta Kostyuk who reached the 3rd round of the 2018 Australian Open this year,” said Tournament Director Felixs Lukas.

Rising Croatian stars Tena Lukas and Lea Bošković have been given wildcards to the tournament upon the request of Croatian Fed Cup coach Iva Majoli. Top Croatian player Petra Martić is keen to play in the event but her appearance in Bol will depend on how far she goes in the French Open.

The Croatia Bol Open is the flagship WTA event in Southeastern Europe. Since the tournament’s return to Bol in 2016 it consistently ranks among the best tournaments in the WTA 125K series with $125,000 in on-site prize money and 160 ranking points awarded to the winner.

Tickets for the whole tournament cost 100 Kuna, single day tickets cost 30 Kuna, and finals tickets cost 60 Kuna.
All profits from ticket sales will be donated to a safe house located in Dalmatia that provides housing and care for female victims of domestic violence.
