Text Your Toddler Through Alexa Using Mommy-gram

You probably don’t want to give your toddler a cell phone, but sending a message to your child at home between meetings or getting that all-important “Where are the Cheerios?!” message via text rather than a dozen phone calls could be pretty nice.

Mommy-gram (and Daddy-gram) is an Alexa skill that essentially allows you to text back and forth with your child at home without he or she having a phone or even needing to know how to spell or read.

On your child’s end, he or she will tell Alexa to “Ask Mommy-gram to say Hello to Mom” or whatever their message might be. Mom will then get a text message from Alexa with the message in written form. She can respond via text, and her message will be read to the child through the Echo (or whatever other Alexa device) you have at home.

The conversation can then go back and forth or it could end there.

It’s definitely not a replacement for an after-school phone call, but it can be a nice way to check in while you’re out on a date night or between meetings without having to play phone tag with the babysitter. And it gives your small child the power to text message in a safe controlled way without handing over anyone’s phone.
