Last month I was elected President of the American Association for Justice’s Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group.

This is a great honor as the attorneys who selected me for this leadership position are among the very best brain injury lawyers in the country.

The AAJ’s Traumatic Brain Injury Group was formed in 1991 for the purpose of bringing TBI attorneys together so that their collective expertise, knowledge and experience can be leveraged to ensure that brain injury survivors receive justice in the courts. Notably, the AAJ is the nation’s largest association of advocates serving the needs of personal injury victims, with more than 50,000 lawyer members.

Helping TBI survivors is a cause that I’m very passionate about. I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead such an esteemed group of lawyers. The work we do is vital and important. I blog about the issues that car accident victims with TBI face regularly on this Auto Law blog – just last week, I analyzed why there is “so rarely a TBI diagnosis for car crash victims who have TBI.”

I’ve also had extensive experience in the courtroom making sure that brain injury victims get the compensation they deserve. Below are a few of the verdicts and settlements I’ve recovered for my clients with traumatic brain injury:

  • $5.65 million jury verdict in a car accident case on a $600,000 offer.
  • $4.25 million jury verdict in an auto accident case on a $100,000 defense offer.
  • $3.6 million award in a truck accident case on a $300,000 defense offer.
  • $3.5 million verdict in a truck accident on $1 million defense offer.

This year as President, I will be putting on three major TBI seminars aimed at helping lawyers better represent clients with traumatic brain injury over the next year.  In addition to the full day program at the AAJ summer convention in San Diego next July, I will be putting on a best of the best, stalwarts program teaching lawyers about the basics and fundamentals of TBI.  Finally, I will be putting on a rapid-fire, members-only seminar. This will be limited only to members of the AAJ Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group, and the goal is to provide a public platform for our most promising members in a fast-paced format that explores new and cutting edge ideas, litigation and trial techniques, as well as new developments in the medicine.
