Hey Elizabeth!
Summer is a great time of year to blow things off. The weather is nice, you want to be outside, kids are out of school and everything can wait till next week, month or fall. I know. I did it yesterday when I wasn't in the mood to write so worked on some campaign stuff instead of doing my job which I know will be an issue on Thursday afternoon... So, this month I thought I'd talk about 3 Reasons NOT to Sit on the Fence.
- You'll be Glad You Did it - Every time I push something off, by the time I get around to it I realize it wasn't that hard, it didn't take as long as I thought and I wish I'd handled it earlier. I started working with a new client last month who after we sent out their first newsletter I received this note: "Elizabeth how did I ever live a single day without you?" #humblebrag - but it's true. What is it in your life you're sitting on the fence about that you need to pass to someone else?
- FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) - How often do you wish you'd bought tickets to a concert or heard that the party or event you forgot to RSVP/register for was AMAZING? It happens to all of us. And yes, there's not enough hours in the day - but as I tell folks who use my Monthly Marketing Calendar - make sure you register for events and schedule your vacation days early so they're on your calendar. This way you don't miss out!
- It's Too Late - One of the conversations I had with my business coach when I told her I was going to run my friend's city council campaign was around my schedule. We decided that starting in September I would not take on any new clients or projects through the election season. So if you're on the fence and call me in September? We can have a great conversation about working together and we can start that work in January. What project or service provider do you need to talk to NOW instead of in 3 months about working together to get on their calendar or radar so when you're ready to start, they have time to work with you?
Rip off the band-aid, get off the fence and push forward this summer. Take time to enjoy a walk with your dog and sit outside and enjoy happy hour with friends and family. And make time to get the work done now instead of pushing it off. I promise you'll feel great once it's done.
Woof!
