Every bit of plastic ever made still exists somewhere in the world and the environmental impacts of plastic pollution are huge. A recently-released study, based on 2010 data, reports that we dump 13 million tons of plastic into our oceans every year. This same study ranks Egypt #7 worldwide of the worst offenders. Plastic debris is ingested by and kills marine and desert animals. It also chokes plants and leaks toxic chemicals into our groundwater.
