Can You Hear That?

The sizzling of a backyard grill. The pop and fizz of a Mike's Hard Lemonade. The whoosh of bug spray. The loud cry of a bald eagle. The screams of your Uncle Jimmy, who thought that Roman Candle was defective. That's All-American ASMR. And this week, we're cranking the volume to 11.

It's Time to Eat Like an American.

That means without shame. Because there's no other way to eat a hotdog.

:: We Like Big Buns And We Cannot Lie: The Ice Cream Parlor and Ronnie's Chuckwagon will be closed on July 4, but Pete's Family Restaurant and The Villager Deli will serve up all the lunch you eat one-handed.

:: Scoop Up Sweet Treats: Fill your basket or bowl with peaches from Kalawi Farm and Ben's Ice Cream, open from 10-2.

:: Get Red, White and Sconed: Pinescones will be pouring out frozen strawberry and blueberry lemonades. Try July's scone: peach cobbler.

:: Stock up the grill: Get fresh surf and turf — or a fresh-made lobster grilled cheese sandwich — from 10 a.m. to noon at Elliot's Provision Co.

And Toast to Our Forefathers

:: Don't Throw Your Black Tea in the Harbor: Get it in a growler delivered from Reverie CocktailsThe Daily Mail is an adult Arnold Palmer, with tea, lemon oil lemonade and vodka.

:: Something Red, Something Blue: James Creek Cider House has released its Stargazer Bellatrix Blue, a fruity, tannic cider with blueberry wine. See where to find it.

:: Pull up a Stool:
Pinehurst Brewing Co. is open from 11-11, and they're now filling 32-oz crowlers, too. Triangle Wine pours from 11-6; SPBC taps out at 6 p.m.; Railhouse features a new brew (Red, White and Barley) until 2 a.m.; Southern Pines Growler Co. is open from noon to 9 p.m. and The Wine Cellar is open from 1-7 p.m.

Discover Beautiful, Spacious Skies

Challenge your family and friends to a short round of golf — and several rounds of strong drinks — at The Cradle, open every day this week. You'll have fun, even if you have no idea what you're doing.

Party Like It's Not 1776

Because tarring and feathering just doesn't do it for us — or this chicken at last year's Patriotic Pet Parade.

Keeping it Local?

HERE'S WHAT TO DO WEDNESDAY.

:: Festivals: Pinehurst puts on its Fourthfest at the Pinehurst Harness Track, starting at 6 p.m., with games, a free concert and food and drinks for purchase.  Pinehurst Resort hosts Freedom Fest, which includes a Journey tribute band and plenty of places for kids to burn off a sugar rush.

:: Fireworks: Bring your lawn chairs to the Harness Track for fireworks at around 9:15 p.m.

AAAND THURSDAY.

:: Parades on Parades: Pinehurst, Carthage and Whispering Pines will have annual Fourth of July parades — and Pinehurst has a patriotic pet parade, too. Get the details here.

:: Festival and Fireworks: Aberdeen Parks and Rec puts pn its Fun Family Fourth of July at Aberdeen Lake Park, from 5-10 p.m. If you're staying for fireworks, beware — traffic will be insane. You know, for Aberdeen.

Feel like hitting the road?

Here are some events worth the drive.

:: Carolina Beach, July 3: Spend the morning at the Fort Fisher aquarium, the afternoon on the boardwalk, then park your chair on the beach for fireworks and a free concert.

:: Charlotte, July 4: SUP and Acro yogo, and live music, dominate a festival at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. Or, spend the night riding coasters and watching fireworks at Carowinds.

:: Fort Bragg, July 4: See free-fall demonstrations, fireworks and a concert featuring 3 Doors Down.

And Make Sure You Look the Part

White Claw? Truly? As long as it has 1 carb and it's grapefruit flavored, put that ish in a Yeti cup (or inside a Sway koozie) and hit the pool. Here's what else you'll need to make your #basic summer dreams complete.

Plan Ahead for the Weekend

:: Friday, July 5: The celebration continues with First Friday at the Sunrise Theater, featuring the Travers Brothership. Bring the fam and your lawn chairs for a free outdoor concert at the Sunrise Theater with Southern Pines Brewing Co. and Roasted and Toasted. Nothing says 'Merica like beer and waffles.

Oh, And Join Us in Some Speculation.

A lease has been signed for the former Ruby Tuesday building, but we don't have official word on what's moving in. Hit reply and send in your best guess — if you're right, you'll win ... something.

Now, Go Forth and Enjoy Your Liberty.

Just remember, fireworks and alcohol don't mix. Take it from this firefighter who works here in Moore County — and has seen some things.

P.S. We're spending the Fourth email-free.
