It's been a couple of weeks since that ice storm hit Amarillo. You remember. We got the ice, we got the rain, we got the ice, we had snow thunderstorms. The Texas Panhandle gets some crazy weather.

So we had a lot of crazy damage due to the weather. We had structures just fall down to the weight of the ice. We had a lot of down branches all over Amarillo. I had one tree that caused a lot of limbs to kind of break off.

I had to help them the rest of the way. I was pretty proud of myself that I was able to get it take care of by myself. I know I didn't have the proper tools but I made sure I made it work. I then piled all of the branches and limbs on my curb as I was directed to do.

We were also told to call the City of Amarillo to have them pick them up. I didn't do that part because driving down my street I knew I was not the only one that needed this service. I didn't want to bombard them with extra calls.

I decided if they weren't cleaned up in a few weeks I would then call. Here we are two weeks later and I thought about Veterans Day. I realized that the Flag Service I get will be dropping off a flag and those branches and limbs would look horrible.

It was the day before so I wasn't sure what I could do. Then I was sitting in my room watching a little TV when I heard a strange noise outside. I thought "could it be?". So I looked and sure enough it was. The City of Amarillo was outside my house cleaning up all the branches and limbs.

Thank you so much City of Amarillo for making sure that my Flag was blowing in the wind without any distractions.
