If you follow Kendall Jenner on Instagram, you know she’s practically a spokeswoman for #freethenipple. And apparently, her bralessness has inspired a slew of women to get plastic surgery to snag a pair of “designer nipples.”

Many of them head to NYC plastic surgeon Norman Rowe, who specializes in this kind of thing—and he’s seen a lot of nipple enhancement business lately, the New York Post reports. According to Rowe, women who come in for a nipple enhancement want to change the firmness, shape, and color of their nipples so that they can have permanent headlights.

“I think it would be really cool to just have protruding nipples all the time,” one woman told the Post. “My nipples never get hard,” another complained. One woman specifically said that Kendall was her inspiration, saying that she liked the “pointiness” of her nips.

Rowe uses fillers to help his patients get their dream nipples, and they last about two years. (Botox, on the other hand, only lasts about three to four months, he says.)

While everyone has the right to change up their appearance however, whenever they want…is this really safe? It’s hard to say, according to women’s health expert Jennifer Wider, M.D. There isn’t a whole lot of data on fillers injected into the nipple, she points out, making it unclear whether it’s really okay to use this stuff in such a sensitive area. Of course there are a few obvious downsides: It can hurt like a mother and comes with an increased risk of infection.

It’s tough to know how getting designer nipples might impact your nips down the road, too. There’s a chance it could impact your ability to breastfeed, Wider says, especially if you get inflammation and an infection from having your nipples enhanced.

And, of course, it also has the potential to affect how your nipples feel during sex. There’s really no info on how your nips might feel with fillers, but there have been a few reports of decreased nipple sensation after Botox injections (it faded when the Botox wore off), Wider says.

So, sure, you can totally get designer nipples if you really feel like it will make your life better. Just know there are potential risks involved. Or you could steal a cue from Samantha in SATC and just wear fake ones when you want an obvious highbeam effect.

Your call.
