Are you at your desk now wondering how you can be healthier at work? If you’re feeling stressed out and/or lethargic, there are a number of things you can do to improve your well-being and health while doing your job. Here are four smart choices you can make for better health while you’re at work.

Drink Lots of Water

According to a study published in the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism, researchers found that increasing your water consumption can lead to better blood flow, which tends to lead to better creativity and productivity. See how much you currently drink and try increasing it by one or two glasses. Keep a log to see how much you improve.

BYOS (Bring Your Own Snacks)

If you find that you’re digging into the office candy jar quite often, try bringing some of your own snacks to work. Some of the best options include fresh fruit, nuts, veggies and nut butter, protein bars, and yogurt.

Break Out the Disinfectant Weekly

Think about all of the germs that gather on your keyboard, mouse, and supplies on your desk. Notice that you’ve been getting sick? Try to take some time every Friday at the end of your workday to wipe your supplies and surfaces down with disinfectant. For your keyboard, use compressed air to blow away any germs.

Get Some Exercise at Lunch

Try to get out of the office for at least 15 minutes every day to go outside and take a walk. Doing so can do wonders for your health. According to Westfield Health, taking a lunch walk can reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol that causes high blood pressure, can boost your immune system, and can reduce stress and anxiety.

Try keeping these considerations in mind for a healthier workday.
