Arizona Gymnastics Finishes Their Season at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona gymnastics hosted the 2018 Pac-12 Championships in McKale Center this afternoon, and the Cats finished 4th in session one of competition with a final score of 195.825. Oregon State took home 1st place in session one with a 196.575, Arizona State earned 2nd with a 196.425, and Stanford finished 3rd with 196.350.
 
The Pac-12 Championships will continue going into this evening as UCLA, Utah, California, and Washington compete in session two for the title of 2018 Pac-12 Champion.
 
"This was a great way for us to end our season," said head coach John Court. "I would like to say a big congratulations to our three seniors, Madison, Victoria, and Kennady. We're looking forward to traveling a few gymnasts to NCAA regionals and building the Arizona gymnastic program over the next few years." 
 
Arizona Kicked Things off on Floor:
The Cats started session one on floor, and then moved to vault, bars, and beam. Arizona earned an event score of 48.925 on floor, and was lead by senior Kennady Schneider who scored a 9.875. This is Schneider's 10th floor routine this season that has scored a 9.825 or higher.
 
Beam Queens Return to McKale:
For the better part of this season, the Cats seemed to struggle on balance beam. However ever since Arizona traveled to Arkansas on March 2, they've been unstoppable. Today they earned an event score of 49.225, following a 49.275 at home on March 9 and a new school record of 49.525 while competing at Arkansas.
 
Senior Victoria Ortiz, who posted a 9.875, led the Cats on beam. Sophomore Courtney Cowles, junior Haylie Hendrickson, and senior Madison Cindric all earned 9.850's, and Maddi Leydin and Kennady Schneider scored a pair of 9.800's.
 
Cindric and Leydin Compete in the All-Around:
Senior Madison Cindric and sophomore Maddi Leydin competed in the all-around for the 8th time this season. Cindric earned an all-around score of 39.225, she scored a 9.725 on vault, 9.850 on bars, 9.850 on beam, and a 9.800 on floor. Leydin earned a 39.075 score in the all-around, finishing with a 9.725 on vault, 9.775 on bars, 9.800 on beam, and a 9.775 on floor.
