Architect Dan Meis will begin stepping up his visits to Liverpool as Everton eye progress on their new stadium.

Meis was at Goodison on Wednesday night, to watch the game with Leicester City, as part of a planned trip from his New York base.

The lead architect on the Blues’ proposed new ground at Bramley-Moore Dock was also in the city to be brought up to speed with the project and to receive early feedback from a survey of supporters.

Last week, Everton released the 11 key principles they hope will shape their new ground on the waterfront, as well as the long-term future of Goodison and they also included a plea for fans to have their say.

It is understood Meis has been made aware of some early feedback with the club keen to see how it could be translated into his designs.

Meis is now expected to be jetting across the Atlantic at least twice a month with the club hoping to finalise a funding agreement with Liverpool City Council for around £280m of the near £500m needed for construction.

Once Everton have the money in place they intend to press on with a planning application to which Meis is integral and so it is expected he will start spending extended periods in the city.
