A new grocery store with a focus on fresh is coming to Augusta next month.

The first 200 shoppers will receive 20 percent off their initial total purchase, according to a news release.

Other opening-day giveaways include free coupon books to every 15th shopper checking out, and a free reusable bag with purchase. On May 5, the first 200 customers who make a purchase will receive a coupon booklet for five free deli items, and May 6 every 15th customer checking out will receive a coupon for $5 off their next purchase of more than $15.

Spokesperson Kalia Pang said part of what makes Sprouts different from other grocery stores is the layout, which puts produce at the center of the store. Sprouts stores are also smaller – the Augusta store will be about 30,000 square feet.

"We carry 19,000 products on average, 90 percent of which are natural or organic," Pang said.

The chain has 16 stores in Georgia, most of which are in areas surrounding Atlanta, and more than 280 nationwide.

"We’ve expanded in Atlanta over the past couple years and got to know all the shoppers there who are interested in natural organic and healthy foods and we see that trend in Augusta as well," Pang said.
