When I unboxed the Famovape Vector sub-ohm tank I immediately placed it on my shelf and went to work on another review. Big mistake. Because if it wasn’t for a slightly different drip tip, the Vector would have gotten lost in a sea of SMOK TFV12s. Not because there’s too many of them, but rather because they’re nearly identical.

Like we’ve said in other reviews, there’s only so many ways to build a functional sub-ohm tank, but if you told me that Famovape’s design team was comprised of SMOK refugees, I probably wouldn’t argue. Still, it’s all moot, considering the Vector is also a marked improvement over the venerable Prince series in the two most important ways – flavor and vapor.

Let’s go to the official line before we dive in.

The VECTOR Sub-Ohm Tank is the flagship mesh tank from Famovape, deploying a multi-mesh coil system for enhanced flavor recreation and 5mL maximum eJuice capacity with dual slotted bottom airflow control. Measuring 25mm in diameter, the VECTOR Mesh Tank deploys a visually appealing metal construction with user-friendly designs, such as a retractable top-fill method. The key component lies within the improved coil system, implementing multiple version of mesh designs with a greater surface area that results in even heating of cotton and eJuice for a consistent vaping experience. Massive dual slotted bottom adjustable airflows allow for ample air channels into the chamber, producing maximum flavor and cloud production.

Impressions

We kind of covered it in the intro, but the Vector looks a lot like most of today’s leading sub-ohm tank contenders, with a heaping extra dose of TFV12 to seal the deal. Large coil system? Check. Squared off bubble glass section? Check. Sliding top-fill cap? Check. Patterned resin drip tip? Check.

BLUE Famovape Vector Tank ReviewYou get the point – Famovape didn’t reach too far when it was time to map out its flagship vape tank. But did it really have to? While there’s nothing distinct or unique about this look and feel, it just effing works. And to be honest, I think Famovape took this design and made it better – most notably in the top fill cap, which is much stiffer and more secure than SMOK’s patented design. This was a major win when taking the tank out on the town.

Where I wish the Vector was MORE like the TFV12 is in the rotating airflow control, which was too stiff for my liking. Even minor adjustments took some muscle I wasn’t used to providing. Sure, it got better with time, but why can’t something as simple as a dial work right out of the box?

The capacity of the Vector is a little lower than we’ve become accustomed to, mostly because the stock single and triple coils in the box are gargantuan. The good part of this is that the juice flow and flavor production is second to none. The downside is an equally large amount of juice consumption with each draw. Long story short? Don’t head out for the night without some spare juice.

Anyway, getting back to the stock coils…

Standout Features

Disassembled Famovape Vector Tank ReviewThough there’s only two in the box, the Vector coil series has three different mesh coil varieties. Apparently, Famovape wasn’t as fond of the dual-coil 0.2-ohm option, because they skipped right over that head and included a single- and triple-coil head to appease users. Whatever their intention, these coils are fantastic.

The triple-coil comes in at a (now-standard) 0.15 ohms, and absolutely shines in both flavor clarity and vapor production. I love the way even my most complex juices seem like they’re being directly dripped onto the atomizer, rather than run through a prebuilt coil, but Famovape completely nailed this head.

Notice I said “love” and not the past tense – the Vector triple coil is STILL kicking, nearly three weeks after it first arrived on my desk. That’s great performance for a low-wattage MTL atomizer, much less a juice-hungry sub-ohm offering, but that’s exactly what’s happened here. While I can’t say the performance is better than it was in week 1, I can confidently say it hasn’t degraded much at all, and I’m still enjoying using it, even with fresh tanks waiting to be tested a few feet away.

The single coil was also impressive, but had a noticeably shorter performance life than its three-headed brother. Both coils offer similar levels of flavor and vapor, but if you only get to choose one, the triple-coil head is one of the best we’ve seen to date.

The best part of this? The Vector is compatible with several SMOK and Vaporesso coil heads, only adding to the tremendous value this tank offers.

Vaping the Famovape Vector Tank

ALL COLORS Famovape Vector Tank ReviewLike I’ve mentioned numerous times, Famovape is on a huge winning streak, and might be my favorite vape company of 2019… at least so far. So, to honor the 25mm Vector the right way, I attached it to my go-to vape mod, the Famovape Magma. And what a great decision it was.

Even though the Vector seems a little tall for such a compact device, the pairing actually matched up nicely, with no overhang, flush fit and flawless performance. This proved true, even when pushing the triple coil to its 150-watt limit. Though that’s WAY higher than anyone should vape the Vector tank, the coil handled the excess wattage in style. The tank got warm, and the vapor lost a little clarity, but ultimately the coil proved its stated limits were accurate and safe to attempt.

That said, we need to circle back to the one negative I have for the Vector – juice consumption. To be fair, almost ALL big-league sub-ohm tanks use a ton of juice, but the Vectors seem to be out to win a land-speed record. Even though each puff produced rich, nuanced plumes of flavorful vapor, it was a little distressing to watch my e-liquid level drop after each round of draws.

SIDE VIEW Famovape Vector Tank ReviewTrying different coil brands with the Vector delivered mixed results – all worked as intended, as if they came in the kit themselves. But the best flavor and vapor performance came from the home-team coils, so if juice is at a premium, you might want to shelve the Vector until you get a hold of more e-liquid reserves.

Pros:

– Amazing flavor and vapor production

– Awesome top-fill cap

– Cross-compatible with several major coil brands

Cons:

– Thirstiest tank we’ve tested in a while

– Terrible airflow control

– There’s REALLY no other tank designs left to try?

Spinfuel VAPE Recommendation and Score

One thing we haven’t mentioned thus far is that the Famovape Vector sub-ohm tank comes in at a VERY competitive $22.95 retail. That’s a fraction of what most tanks of this ilk cost, and a major feather in Famovape’s cap. Because the Vector – even with the thirsty coils – is an absolute winner at any price.

Even if there wasn’t an attractive price attached to the Vector, we’d still be giving it an “A” – but now you have one less excuse for not owning one. Essential vape gear.
