With the Boston Bruins battling for the Stanley Cup, the company behind Samuel Adams is continuing a tradition of issuing a special beer to honor the team.When the Red Sox were playing in the World Series, the Boston Beer Company released Damage Done Double IPA, and when the Patriots were playing in the Super Bowl, the brew was called Too Old, Too Slow, Still Here.For the Bruins, the beer is called Samuel Adams Black & Gold, after the team's colors. It is described as a medium-bodied lager with chocolate notes, a hint of coffee and a slightly sweet and roasted malt flavor. "We love doing these," said Adam Cupples, general manager of the Sam Adams Boston Brewery. "These are passion projects for us."The company says the brew is a deep ruby black color and has 4.9% ABV. It was released for purchase at the company's brewery on Germania Street in Jamaica Plain Monday. With purchases limited to one four-pack per customer, people waited in line for hours to get their hands on the special, limited edition brew. One fan said he lined up at 8 a.m. and waited seven hours to purchase the beer, which went on sale at 3 p.m.Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final is scheduled for Monday at 8 p.m.After the first three games of the series, the Bruins lead the St. Louis Blues 2-1.
