Howard the Duck” is going to be one of the four new Marvel tv shows added to Hulu. That’s right folks, imagine the 1986 “Howard the Duck” movie, and then imagine a whole television show of it. Though it will be animated, it looks like it’s going to be more aimed towards adults, which only heightens the intrigue for this talking, cigar-smoking, over-sized duck.

The new ‘Howard’ show will be produced and written by the duo Kevin Smith and Dave Willis. Smith is known in the film industry for his comedies like “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back” and “Clerks,” but also for penning a few comic arcs in the Spiderman and Daredevil books.

Though Hulu does have their own Marvel shows already (“The Runaways” for example), they always seemed to be outshined by their counterparts over on Netflix, including “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” and the ensemble “Defenders.” But it looks like the new Marvel/Hulu shows are going to be poking a little fun at their competitors, according to Variety. The other three animated series will each include titular super creatures like ‘Howard.’ “M.O.D.O.K,” “Hit-Monkey,” and “Tigra and Dazzler” will each get their own series before teaming up in their own ensemble special cleverly titled “The Offenders.” Look out Netflix, Howard is coming for you.
