Financial Pornography – Why Your TV is Bad for You

2018 has started out super volatile. And the press is bringing up memories of 2000 as well as 2008-2009. They are asking us to “remember” these bad times and offering that we may be in line for something similar in the not too distant future.

Two thoughts on this: Maybe. And “So What?”

Markets will go up and will go down. That is their nature. That is how it has ALWAYS been; and, in my opinion, that is how it always will be. However, I go back to my two basic beliefs:

  • Twenty years from now there will be more people on this Earth.
  • Twenty years from now the global economy will be larger.

Amazingly, in spite of almost universal agreement with the above, you never hear talk of these two things in the news. That’s because these topics are not “sexy.” Instead, the media focuses on the titillation associated with outlandish potential behaviors in the market—and that’s financial pornography in my language.

The key is to tune out the noise and focus on what you can control: a well-constructed, well-executed investment policy strategy. While such an approach does not guarantee success, it has a strong track record of solid performance.

The linked article goes into detail on this topic. Read the article here.

  • Are you addicted to financial pornography and ready to break the habit?
  • If so, would you like to partner with someone that can get this trash out of your financial life?
