BeaverTails is offering free BeaverTails Pastry Friday in honour of National BeaverTails Pastry Day.

BeaverTails had humble origins. Based on an old family recipe, Pam and Grant Hooker introduced their traditional Cinnamon & Sugar flavour at the Killaloe Fair, west of Ottawa.

Fast-forward 45 years, they are now available at 140+ locations in the US and Canada and have distribution licenses in six international countries. Over the years, BeaverTails has also expanded its menu, which now consists of eleven flavour options of their signature pastries, poutine, the BeaverDog, and Beaver Bites, as well as a range of frozen treats, smoothies, and the Frapp-Eh!, offered by their sister company Moozoo.

National BeaverTails Pastry Day debuted in 2018 in honour of Beavertail’s 40-year anniversary.

Those who visit participating BeaverTails locations can indulge in ONE FREE Classic Cinnamon & Sugar pastries.

Some Fun Facts About BeaverTails:

  • If you lined up, end-to-end, every BeaverTails pastry sold since its debut in 1978, the line of deliciousness would span across all of Canada. There would even be some extras to spare!
  • 48.7 tons of chocolate hazelnut spread goes into making BeaverTails each year! To put that in perspective, that’s the same weight as 70 moose, and those guys are heavy!
  • The biggest BeaverTails pastry ever prepared was a whopping 6-foot treat! It was prepared to celebrate the brand’s 25th-anniversary presence at Ottawa’s Winterlude festival in 2006.
  • “What is a BeaverTail?” was an answer (or question?) on the television quiz show Jeopardy, hosted by Canadian-born host Alex Trebek.
