Courteous, and punctual. Cleaned up afterwards and completed the job as stated in the contract. Very knowledgeable in work management and wasted no time!
Would recommend this company to repair your plumbing needs!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeff A.Los Altos, CA43910Mar 15, 2024
So our house is 67 years old and has an asbestos-cement (AC) sewer lateral that has some sort of crack in it. The toilet at the end of the under-house sewer drain (a few feet before the drain exits the house) hasn't been flushing properly for at least three months, so we started collecting bids. About two or three weeks later (three days ago), before we had chosen a provider, there were air bubbles coming up out of all the toilets for 20 - 30 minutes. After that, none of the toilets could be flushed, but thankfully the sinks still all drained okay. First I called our regular plumber, who has been helping us for 40 years (his father then the son) but because we only have a three inch cleanout (not the proper four inch) at the edge of the house where the sewer line starts, he could not reach the backup with his snake.
So I called TrenchFree, who had submitted a quote a couple weeks earlier (to replace our lateral sewer line,) they said that if we picked them to perform the job, they would come out for free to clear the line. Their bid was reasonable, so we signed the contract and the next day they came out with a big truck with various equipment to clear the obstruction. Axel and his assistant Ramiro worked tirelessly but because our house (built in 1956) only has a couple of 2" roof vents, one 3" roof vent, and a 2" clean out on the side of the house at the start of the line, they tried for an hour but were unsuccessful in clearing the problem.
But no worries, we agreed they would return the next day to install the two-way cleanout in the ground at the side of the house where the sewer drain exits the house to head for the street. But then, they found a four inch cleanout just outside the bathroom where the sewer drain exits the house, a cleanout that I have been unaware of for some 40 years. (This is part of why I said they went above and beyond what we expected - I never thought for a moment they would find this long-buried cleanout.) Within about 20 minutes, they had cleared the clog, and two of our three toilets flush like gang-busters again. The 3rd one, the last one before the sewer drain exits the house, flushes with less vigor, but it's been that way for months so perhaps the toilet itself has a problem. It is a newer toilet than the other two that flushes using less water, so that might be a factor, but, when it was first installed it worked just fine. We may just buy a new toilet and put an end to the frustration of not being able to use the master bathroom for solid matter.
Anyway, I want to thank Axel and Ramiro for an excellent job and making it so we can use our own toilets again instead of driving to nearby businesses. If I had anything to say that could be improved upon, it would have been for them to come inside and clean the showers where sewer water came up into. However, I didn't tell Axel that there was debris in the water so maybe he assumed all was fine. Plus, I'm not sure it's part of their job to come inside a client's house and do such a thing. Regardless, I am completely thrilled at their hard work, and ingenuity in finding the cleanout (other companies asked if there was a cleanout but when I said "No" they didn't bother to try to find one.)
Thank you again Axel, Ramiro, and TrenchFree for the life-saving assistance you provided us today. I look forward to the replacement of the lateral sewer line and the appropriate cleanouts required by modern code. If problems remain, and we're pleased with the rest of the job that TrenchFree does, we'll be asking for a quote to replace the 4" cast iron sewer drain under the house.
Lastly - I tried to post a video of what it looks like when air bubbles come up out of a toilet bowl, but I guess Yelp doesn't support that. It's not too hard to imagine though, and my point is, don't ignore it if this happens! It probably means you've got some kind of blockage. We were lulled into complacency because when it did this six months ago, the problem self-corrected so we ignored it and did nothing. Boy are we sorry about that, because we couldn't use any of our toilets for solid matter for a full three days. It's *VERY* inconvenient to have to drive to a local grocery store just to use a toilet.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 653592592Dec 1, 2023
TrenchFree is an exemplary business and the online favorable reviews are true.
Unfortunately, we had to replace a residential sewer line which was original to the house. TrenchFree was so professional and clear with the work scope, no hidden costs or surprises.
Carlos, their estimator/sales manager, was quick to diagnose what our sewer line needed, showing us with a camera. He's very personable to negotiate the work contract terms. From Jose to handle the contract, to Antonio to schedule the work, and the onsite crew of Hector and his teammates -- everyone was topnotch.
TrenchFree took care of all the details.
They handled having the gas line sprayed in advance and obtained the permit to add a city street clean out valve. They met the city inspector for the permit to be signed off on and backfilled all the dirt and poured new cement for a new house clean out valve. They kept us updated with the progress along the way.
The trenchless sewer line replacement itself took about 6 hours of which the water was shut off for 2 hours.
Their prices are very fair considering this is a labor intensive job that often requires permits. Of course you should get other bids but you'll find out that TrenchFree is the leader because this is their specialty.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Linda W.San Jose, CA027Nov 15, 2023
I called TrenchFree and spoke with Gabriel explaining the possibility of a main waterline leak to the house. He set up an appointment that afternoon at 4.
Antonio showed up right at 4:00. He was very nice and thorough checking the grounds and connections. We walked the whole water main line and checked to see if my water meter showed any movement.
After a few minutes of watching the meter and having no movement on the water gauge he determined there was no leak and to Periodically check the ground, connections and water gauge for possible signs of leaks.
His quote if I was to have needed the water main line replaced was what I would consider a fair price!
I will use this company in the future and I would recommend you give them a call.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - renee m.Alamo, CA03303Feb 19, 2024
We got a bid from them, the person who provided the bid was knowledgeable and friendly but their bid came in 300% higher than any of the other bids (we got 5 others). I ensured the materials were the same so 300% higher made no sense at all. We got the work done for a lot less cost with a very high quality contractor. The pricing was just ludicrous.

A fabulous company. Very competitive rates. High quality work. In addition, our job site had a complication with tougher than expected compacted soils. They powered straight through.
Directional boring is such a superior method compared to cut and cover if you can get away with it. For our sewer lateral, TrenchFree made the math work.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Steven R.San Jose, CA03Feb 15, 2024
Axel and his team did a great job. They replaced the main sewer line in 1 day, but since I requested a permit that added the next morning to the project for inspection. All the work was completed to code and passed inspection in the morning. Drain&Water (Trenchfree) completed the covering of the two holes and cleaned before 11:00 AM. I would recommend Drain&Water to anyone needing a main sewer line replaced. Thank you Axel and team. Steven Rubio

TrenchFree did a superb job of installing a new water main line without breaking an inch of my concrete. The task was complicated and the opening at the front of the house was quite small. Yet they didn't touch any concrete at all.
They were very confident from the get go about handling this task easily. Their price was the lowest amongst 3 quotes that I got and it was completed in just a day. The main line was of copper and no joint whatsoever underground. From the meter to the main entrance, one single pipe.
Highly recommend them. They have the right people & machines to get the job done. They were very thorough in ensuring the sewer line wasn't impacted due to the underground drilling. They put a camera from the sewer vent on the top of the house, all the way until the cleanout to ensure nothing was impacted.
Their foreman Armanda was excellent to work with. And Antonio made the process very smooth from the quote to completion.
Oh also, they were very helpful & prompt in setting up a temporary water main within an hour of me detecting a massive leak. They came in after hours and got the job done quickly to ensure we had a water in the house.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeffrey C.Millbrae, CA72193Mar 2, 2023
I hired Carlos and his crew to replace my old sewer lateral. For a week I had problems with sewage backup at my home. Paid a few plumbers to hydrojet the line and report all clear. After the line continued to backup I got a few inspections and quotes. Found out my line was made out of Orangeburg pipe and was deteriorated. Trench free came in at the best price for pipebursting and replacement. It took a couple of weeks for his crew to come and do the job. In between the wait the line clogged again. Carlos as promised sent a tech to hydrojet and clear the line for me for free while waiting for the replacement. His crew did an excellent job and I have had no further issues with my line. He even modified the original quote to reduce the cost after his team decided it was unnecessary to replace my old clean out. Thanks Trenchfree!
