The Oceanside International Film Festival officially returns this August for six days’ worth of independent cinema. The event, which is now entering its ninth annual edition, offers local and international filmmakers the opportunity to screen to a wide audience. Summer Organ Festival!
Enjoy the magnificent sound of the 104-year-old Spreckels Organ, the world's largest outdoor instrument, at the free and popular International Summer Organ Festival. Held at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park, this is a San Diego tradition not to be missed. Concerts are 7:30-9:30 p.m. Mondays, through Aug. 26.  The finale — featuring Silent Movie Night — is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association, Inc. offers its popular Engineer-For-An Hour program running several weekends through September. August times and dates are 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Aug. 10-11, and Aug. 24-25. Engineer For An Hour allows you to sit in the engineer’s seat of one of the museum's powerful diesel locomotives and take charge under the guidance a certified locomotive engineer. The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of railroads as they existed in the Pacific Southwest. With over 120 pieces of equipment and artifacts on display between two facilities in Campo and La Mesa,  the Association provides a unique learning experience for all ages.
