Police continue to look for a man who they say shot a door-to-door meat salesman Friday afternoon after haggling over a sales price escalated into an argument, according to York City Police Lt. Gene Fells.

"He ran from the scene," Fells said Sunday afternoon of the alleged shooter. "We have some information (but) we're still trying to get his identification."

The victim, Ronald Louis Green, Jr., 43, suffered a gunshot wound to his side and was taken to York Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Fells said.

About 2:20 p.m. on Friday, Green, along with another man, were in the 200 block of West Cottage Place selling meat for a Baltimore company. They called on a woman who had purchased meat from the company in the past, Fells said.

"He (Green) was trying to negotiate a price with the lady," Fells said. "I think he started using more aggressive sales tactics."

A male inside the home who overheard the negotiation began arguing with Green. The two started fighting inside the home and then the fight spilled out to the front of the property, Fells said.

At some point, the male pulled a gun and shot Green, then ran away, Fells said.

Fells said the company that employs Green has a permit to conduct door-to-door sales in the city.
