These are the 'Star Wars'-themed beers, wines you may see at Disneyland, Disney World

It may be a galaxy far far away, but not so far that you can’t grab a decent ale. How about a White Wampa?

A variety of beers will be available at the cantina inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the new land opening May 31 at Disneyland and Aug. 29 at Disney World.

Based on brew-themed trademarks for which Lucasfilm has applied, guests will be able to toss a few back at Oga’s Cantina. The bar brings an alien concept to the Anaheim theme park: serving alcohol to the masses.

It will be the first time alcoholic beverages will be sold inside Disneyland to the general public. (The exclusive Club 33 has for years been mixing drinks for well-heeled members.)

What you can drink at the Disneyland bar

Visitors to Oga’s Cantina likely will have a number of beverages from which to choose, including beer, wine, hard cider and the previously announced signature (read: expensive) cocktails.

Lucasfilm, the company behind the “Star Wars” franchise, recently applied for nine trademarks related to beer and wine.

Based on the application, the wines are Andoan White, Corellian Red and Toniray (hue unspecified). There’s also a Spice Runner Hard Cider.

While the trademark application offered no descriptions of the various brews that may be on tap, here’s a rundown with our best guess based on the names and styles.

Beer for all tastes

Gamorrean Ale: Gamorreans are the “Star Wars” muscle, beefy guards that resemble two-legged tuskless rhinos. We think this could be a dark and rich IPA, given the popularity of the style. Remember, you’re in the Black Spire Outpost on the remote planet Batuu. No one here has heard of an India Pale Ale, since there is no India. Earthly equivalent: Stone IPA.

(Editor’s note: It’s been previously reported Oga’s will serve Bad Motivator IPA, which, as noted above, should not exist in the “Star Wars” universe. Imagineers, please explain.)

White Wampa Ale: Assuming the “white” refers more to the ale than the Wampa (the abominable snowman that terrorized Luke Skywalker on the ice planet Hoth), we expect a lighter wheat beer with touches of orange and coriander, if not a hint of ginger. Earthly equivalent: Blue Moon.

Gold Squadron Lager: The lightest beer of the group, this will no doubt be the most popular, especially on hot days. No surprise it was named after the Gold Squadron. The “Star Wars” fighter group not only shares a color with lager, but its pilots served as fodder in the attack on the Death Star, so they are the lightweights in their category. Earthly equivalent: Budweiser.

Trandoshan Ale: The reptilian Trandoshans are fierce and wily warriors. They’re going to want an ale that’s flavorful but won’t weight them down. It could have a nice balance of hops with roughly 5% alcohol by volume. Earthy equivalent: Sierra Pale Ale.

Out-of-this-world cocktails

Oga’s Cantina also will be slinging a full menu of cocktails. Since this is Disneyland as filtered through “Star Wars,” expect them to fizz, bubble and/or glow, if not come in souvenir glasses.

While the mere presence of a bar inside Disneyland has angered some traditionalists, others fear it will lead to PUI (Pedestrians Under the Influence). Disney officials have said customers will have to consume alcoholic beverages on the cantina’s premises. No walking around with them.

Add to that the expected price of the drinks and odds are a relaxed crowd will savor a drink, taking the edge off before heading to the line for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
