A free clinic in Manassas announced a big expansion, making room for prenatal care, physical therapy and more for thousands of low-income patients in Manassas and Manassas Park.

The Mother of Mercy free clinic, which was once a Manassas abortion clinic has doubled in size. The clinic now serves hundreds of patients and has more than 200 registered volunteers. The clinic will offer, physical therapy, and mental health counseling. In addition to the expansion staff were also presented with an ultrasound machine that will allow prenatal care to residents without insurance.

“We have primary care, cardiology, orthopedics. We have also started serving pregnant women is prenatal care that was only a dream about a year ago,” said Alexandria Luevano, Director at Mother of Mercy.

Anne Garin, volunteer dietitian and mother of 7, said the new ultrasound machine will help at-risk expecting mothers.

“People being forced into a decision they don’t want. I haven’t met a mother that didn’t want to have their baby but they need help,” she said.

The ultrasound machine was donated by the Knights of Columbus as part of their ultrasound initiative.

“For the knight of Columbus this is the greatest humanitarian initiative that the knights have undertaken ever in our history,” said Supreme Knight, Carl Anderson.
