Nominations for 2018 Denman Evangelism Awards Now Being Accepted

February 22, 2018

“Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary use words.”  We cross paths with people that personify this quote almost daily in our ministry.  Like Susie Heidt, who coordinated a successful VBS in a town that has no schools.  Or Ethan Oltreman, a high school senior who organized a revival designed to encourage racial reconciliation.  Or Rev. Andrew Singh who is passionate  about moving his church parishioners to pray and grow in their prayer lives equipping them to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Each year, Annual Conferences across the nation join The Foundation for Evangelism (FFE) to recognize outstanding youth, clergy, and laity in their conference with the Harry Denman Evangelism Award.   Harry Denman, noted lay evangelist and Christian leader, believed that each person must live their call to make disciples of Jesus Christ through relationship, mission, and preaching. Even now, more than forty years after his death, Denman’s words still inspire: “Today…the only way we can see Christ is to see him wrapped in  a person…”

The Harry Denman Evangelism Award honors United Methodists whose exceptional ministry of evangelism – expressed in Word (what), Sign (why), and Deed (how) – brings people into a life transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. If you know a youth, clergy and/or lay person that fits this description please consider submitting a nomination form.
