Spiced: The Sweet and Savoury

Friday

I’m back with some hot and spicy treats from Fuego Box. The brand has partnered with the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) to raise awareness for prostate cancer, a disease that millions of men globally are diagnosed with. For every crate sold, Fuego Box makes a five-dollar donation to the foundation.

As a keen supporter of the brand from the beginning, I am happy to introduce you to a new crate from Fuego Box (FB), a brand that gives back and advocates a great cause—prostate cancer research. These award-winning hot sauces are flavourful and I have to say, after tasting many of the boxes of sauces myself, this crate might be my favourite due to the range of items.

The Fuego Boxes do not only come in monthly boxes but you can also buy crates. This crate is an exclusive one that is packed with flavour. The uniquely curated crate comes with chock full of chilli-infused goodies for the whole family to enjoy. If you like mildly spiced foods or spicy hot grub you needn't worry because there's something for everyone in this crate.
Check out the blends below:

THE CHILE CAUSE CRATE – The Spicy Gift Box That Gives Back (Buy it here)
This crate includes five full-size items.
  1. 1. Zana Organic Hot Sauce:  Created by the FB founder himself, this medium-heat sauce was best in pizza, Asian cuisine, burritos, steak, and drizzled over pasta. It blends well with marinades and grills nicely. I liked it on our variety of wings as an additional dipping sauce as well. This is more of a table-friendly daily hot sauce, one that you pass down the table when someone asks if you have any hot sauce, without knowing their specific heat preference. This could easily be a good fish ‘n’ chips sauce too!
  2. 2. Hot Hive Spicy Honey: I was most excited to try this honey, as it is infused with a hot pepper. Even though it happens to be the hottest bloody pepper in the world; the Carolina Reaper pepper, shockingly, it’s not as hot as you think. This won’t blow your top off, scoop around the pepper, it gives you a great tasting level of heat This is thankfully due to it being macerated in honey. I actually used this amazing honey on a fruit (apples and walnuts), honey glazed chicken, and pizza. Feel free to use in pancakes, tea, bagels, etc.
  3. 3. Fat Cat Surprisingly Mild Guajillo Ghost: You might remember Fat Cat’s wonderful hot sauces from this post. Well, this one did not disappoint either. This hot sauce is actually quite mild but it’s full of flavour—made with guajillo chillies and blended with other spices alongside vinegar, it’s smoky flavour is what will win you over. We found this to be good best on bbq sides, BBQ itself, and pretty much any Mexican-related cuisine.

  1. 4. Bravado Spice Jalapeño & Garlic Seasoning: This is a great spice and is full of zesty flavour. It’s quite a mild spice even though there is jalapeño, it’s blended with garlic and can be used on vegetables, poultry/fowl, or seafood. We loved it on chicken, African-spiced rice, and I tried it on roasted potatoes. It’s tasty and not too salty.

  1. 5. Yellowbird Serrano: Founded by Austin-based musician and hot sauce aficionado, five years ago, Yellowbird’s serrano sauce, I have to say, out of all of these, this is one of my absolute favourites. It is made with carrot, cucumber and lime—inspired by traditional Salsa Verde—with a kick. It’s brilliant on any tacos, fish, enchiladas, chicken wings (as featured here), and scrambled eggs for a Tex-Mex flair (see image above).

A little heads up—this would also be a great box for gifting. Think ahead and send this box to a loved one, or any spice loving foodie

Do you know anyone to give this box to? Which sauce or seasoning would you try?
