My greatest beef with Josh Rosen the NFL prospect isn’t the narratives about his personality circulating among the football public. Rosen is still inclined towards the same foolish risks of throwing across the grain and forcing the ball into well-covered areas in the red zone. My greatest source of joy with Rosen is his intermediate and vertical accuracy. It’s a beautiful and consistent process.

This RSP Boiler Room episode profiles vertical targets in the intermediate and deep ranges of the field from 4 or 5 of his games this year. Some of these pinpoint throws cover 58 yards from Rosen’s pitch point.

I’d like to give a hat-tip to Seth Galina over at SB Nation. I saw a concise breakdown of Rosen’s mechanics on his Twitter account as I was producing this video and it inspired me to share those points where appropriate.

To add some perspective to Rosen’s prowess, there are a lot of NFL quarterbacks who lack Rosen’s consistent range and accuracy in the vertical game. When you hear about quarterbacks who can throw the ball 60-70 yards, it’s best to consider the range of distance they can consistently deliver pinpoint throws.

The most common range for NFL quarterbacks is 40-50 yards.

Rosen’s is a tier above.
