Representatives for actor Ewan McGregor have put the kibosh on erroneous reports that Disney+ pulled the plug on the previously announced television series starring McGregor's Star Wars character, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The initial "report" originated from the Twitter account @DicsussingFilm, a parody of DiscussingFilm (note the different spelling). After @DicsussingFilm tweeted that McGregor had departed the planned Obi-Wan series due to "creative differences," certain outlets -- unaware of the parody account's nature -- took the information at face value and began circulating the story. It caused such a commotion that the whole thing actually wound up trending on Twitter.

Apparently deciding they had enough, McGregor's representatives issued a statement to The Wrap. They called rumors of the Obi-Wan series' cancellation "totally inaccurate," explaining the project is still moving forward as planned.

McGregor -- who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy -- was confirmed to be reprising his role for an original series on Disney+ at D23 2019. The series, which is set to be helmed by The Mandalorian's Deborah Chow, will take place in the 19-year period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope -- presumably highlighting Obi-Wan's transformation into the mysterious hermit known as Ben Kenobi (originally played by Alec Guinness).
