How can you protect your students online?
The search for quality, up to date online safety content for teachers is a constant one.
With Safer Internet Day 2018 around the corner on 6th February, we are very happy to bring you five free online safety lessons. Each resource is linked to a BAFTA-nominated video, and comes with all the worksheets and information you need.
With the Children’s Commissioner’s report into the effects of social media on 8-12 year olds highlighting a need in schools to tackle these issues before they start, and the headteachers’ union NAHT calling for PSHE lessons to be made compulsory to tackle the issue, these resources are incredibly timely.
Safer Internet Videos
There are five free resources available on Teacher Toolkit:

Lesson 1: Be kind online
Learning objective: To be able to identify what kindness online looks like.
Success criteria:
- I can recognise when someone has been unkind online
- I can suggest ways which I can be kind online with my own family and friends
- I can recognise that being kind online is just as important as being kind in the real world.

Lesson 2: Things Spread Quickly Online
Learning objective: To be able to explain that information can spread very quickly and widely online even when sent privately
Success criteria:
- I can identify ways in which things could spread online
- I can plan ways in which I will minimise my information from being spread online
- I can debate the pros and cons of posting online with my classmates

Lesson 3: What is online bullying?
Learning objective: To be able to identify what online bullying looks like
Success criteria:
- I can talk about how the children being bullied would have felt
- I can identify the features of bullying
- I can identify the difference between online bullying and real-world bullying.
