The solution enables end customers to use products that they already subscribe to such as Amazon S3, DropBox, Google Storage / Drive etc. alongside data products the Service Provider offers. This is done through the use of a global file system interface. This makes it easy for end customers to easily migrate data to service provider data offerings over time whilst simultaneously enabling the service provider to maintain full ownership of the customer relationship across product sets.
Additionally, the product has a strong focus on Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) in which it provides encryption of data, using customer keys, on any of the clouds supported. It also provides a central point of enforcement for governance/compliance policies and the Audit of file events (such as those required by GDPR for example) which can be stored on Blockchain Hyper Ledger’s if the service provider has a product offering in that area.
Given the strong compliance culture that is being adopted by the European Union this can be an added value offering that the service provider can package up for end partners to resell to end customers.
Lastly, the product has a focus on Ransomware protection for any of the external data clouds or service provider data clouds it supports. The way this feature works is that files are uploaded to a primary data store and replicated to a nominated archive data store in real-time. Consider that the primary store could be a well known commercial provider such as Office 365 or DropBox and the archive provider could be the service providers own data store. If a primary file is subject to a ransomware attack the archive file can quickly be restored. This feature subset is something that can be wrapped into the Governance and Compliance product offering or used as a dedicated product offering for partners and/or end customers.
