Interviews: Wykan

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Stoner Metal/Doom Metal/Black Metal band Wykan from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I wanted to have a name that was not used and original. I went through a lot of options until finally a mix between Wiccan, Lycan, and Witchcraft came up and said Wykan! With a "Y" awesome!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I've always played these genres separately and now with Wykan I blend them and produce an array of atmospheric take son each one.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Only the singer Barrie, a good friend, and vocalist in my black metal project Eohum.

4. Each band member favorite band?

The list of too long and having a favorite band really doesn't exist, unless you have a short library to choose from.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

My urge to create, to expand, to exchange with the crowd and play it out! Artists create cause they enjoy the release, let it be hate, love, madness or poetry.

Me I write, in this project, lyrically for the poetic approach of ancient rites, cultures, and ways of life.

6. Where was your last gig?

Montreal, headlining "Frayle" from Ohio's first Montreal show.

7. Where would you like to act?

I'd like to play Mexico, Brazil, and Scandinavian scenes.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Would be fun with Samsara Blues experiment, Oathbreaker, Sleep, and Orange Goblin.

9. Whom not?

No one.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Beer.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Black Sabbath, Floyd, Hate Forest, Johnny Winter, Deicide, Carcass, Robin Trower, Jimi Hendrix.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

G-strings, so we go them made for fans.

13. What do you think of your fans?

The stoner scene has a great crowd and well metal is huge and hopefully, after 1 year we continue on this path. we have had a great response and we are very grateful for it!
