Anticipated strategy MMO Rogue Universe has landed on mobile

We’ve had our eyes on Rogue Universe for a while. Created by a team of developers and artists who scooped a coveted Unreal Dev Grant in 2018, the game sees you exploring space in “universe year” 1983.

As far as we can tell, this is nothing like the 1983 that readers of a certain vintage may have lived through. Instead, universe year 1983 is filled with spaceships, laser guns, and humanoid aliens with the heads of wolves, which is much more fun.

Rogue Universe is a strategy MMO with a unique comic book art style, courtesy of artists with experience at Marvel, DC, and Disney. It sees you undertaking interstellar missions and accumulating resources to spend on enhancing your ships, bases, and crew members.

You can amass a whole fleet of ships, using them to loot other players and even turf them out of their own planets in a bid to take over the galaxy.

Don’t be a jerk

You don’t have to be a jerk, though. You can also join a guild and cooperate with your fellow players to take down NPCs.

Plus, there’s a single player campaign to work your way through. Since we last took a look at Rogue Universe, developer MUST GAMES has added Deep Strike, a story mode where you can explore Rogue Universe’s massive, well, universe by clearing routes of pesky invaders.

Guild Wars have been added, too, giving you the opportunity to earn more rewards and Honor points by bringing the pain to your enemies during battles.

All of this is set against the backdrop of Rogue Universe’s three main factions: U.N.S., Black Flag, and Zurich Bank. You can earn the trust of these factions or make enemies of them as you see fit, bringing an added texture to the endless void of interstellar space.

There are ten characters to choose from, including the aforementioned wolf-headed alien, a wealth of strategic options, a huge environment to explore and conquer, and a universe-sized amount of stuff to do.

Rogue Universe is out now on Google Play and it’s free to download.
