In this post, we are going to look at places you must visit when you are in California, no matter what.

When You Are in California, You Must Visit Them No Matter What

Universal Studios

Are you a movie buff? Then one place you absolutely cannot miss is the Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles. See perfect recreations of your favorite movies and enjoy rides that let you feel like you are part of the action.

It is best to take the tour first and then decide where you want to spend most of your time. Do schedule a full day for a visit, so you get maximum value.

The Palace of Fine Arts

This was originally built to look like a Roman ruin for the Panama-Pacific Exhibition in 1915 and has become an iconic San Francisco landmark. It is the only one of the buildings from the exhibition left standing.

The beautiful building and gardens make for amazing photo opportunities. The building itself is now home to an art gallery and theatre.

A Balloon Ride Over Napa Valley

Napa Valley offers great wine and food, fantastic scenery and really friendly folks. Take a tour of wine country is obligatory when you are in California but if you really want an experience that you won’t forget, drifting over the valley in an air balloon is a must.

The Winchester Mystery House

This is a fantastic Victorian-style mansion that was once the home to the widow of the man who made the famous Winchester rifles. Originally a farmhouse, the house was constantly under renovation from the day she bought it to the day she died, 36 years later.

The cost? Over $5 000 000 which, by today’s standards isn’t much, but was a fortune back in the late 1800’s. Local legend has it that she was haunted by the ghosts of people killed by the rifles. It goes on to say that a psychic told her that the only way to get rid of them was to move home and never stop building.

The Golden Gate Bridge

If you are going to California, you must stop off at the Golden Gate Bridge but with one slight adjustment — book a whale watching tour and see the iconic landmark from the sea and from the land.

Alcatraz

So much has been said about this legendary prison that it is something that you need to go and see for yourself. Have a look at Al Capone’s cell and see how hard life at the Rock really was.

Yosemite State Park

Whether you want to spend a few nights there camping or just want to enjoy a day trip, this park should be on the agenda. With stunning natural forests, waterfalls and an abundance of wildlife, there is plenty that will interest those that love the outdoors.

These are the top things to see in California but still only a small sample of what the state has to offer. Whether you are a culture buff or a fan of natural beauty, there is plenty for you to do there.

Note: Please visit Newport Beach boat rental when visiting Southern California.
