Mikayla Hellwich, Law Enforcement Action Partnership (LEAP)

Mikayla Hellwich is a public policy advocate, consultant, and educator with nearly 10 years of experience reforming failed drug laws and criminal justice practices. In 2010, she became involved in advocacy as a chapter leader with Students for Sensible Drug Policy, a grassroots nonprofit that mobilizes youth voices against the War on Drugs. Since graduating from the University of Maryland in 2014, Mikayla has served on the staff of the Law Enforcement Action Partnership (LEAP), where she is now the media relations and speakers bureau director, managing the activities and public presence of over 270 law enforcement professionals. She is the founder of Drug Education Consulting, a collaborative project that helps communities reduce the harms associated with drug use and solve complex drug-related problems. Mikayla lives in the Washington, DC-metro area.
