TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona women's golf team won the PING ASU Invitational on Sunday after shooting a season low round of 277 (-11) in the final round and finishing the tournament at 12-under par. The victory is UA's second consecutive tournament win after earning first place at the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational last week in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
"I'm very proud of how these young ladies played today," said head coach
Laura Ianello. "They fought until the very end. Gigi, Haley and Yu-Sang had critical under par rounds and Bianca came up big with a 1-over round. We are super happy to win at ASU. We need to continue to improve but I like the progress that I'm seeing in my teams game. We are home for two weeks before we leave for our next event in Napa."
Junior
Haley Moore finished tied for second at 6-under par after posting a final round score of 66 (-6). Moore now has four Top-10 finishes on the season including two victories at the Golfweek Conference Challenge and the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational.
Freshman
Yu-Sang Hou won the Ann Votik Award as the low freshman in the tournament after tying for second at 6-under par. Hou carded a final round of 70 (-2), which was her third round of the tournament at even or under par. Hou's second place finish is the best of her career thus far.
Junior
Bianca Pagdanganan tied for sixth shooting 3-under par for the tournament after a third round score of 73 (+1). Pagdanganan now has two Top-10 finishes on the season.
Junior
Gigi Stoll played a great third round shooting a 4-under 68 and finishing the tournament in 41
st place at 8-over par. Freshman
Cecilie Bofill tied for 68
th place at 18-over par after a final round of 80 (+8). Sophomore
Sandra Nordaas, who is competing as an individual, finished in 53
rd after carding a 2-over par round of 73.
Jillian Hollis of Georgia won the individual competition by three strokes at 9-under par.
All four Wildcat's counting scores were lower than than the final round average of 74.66. UA led the field in Par-5 scoring at 17-under and was second in total birdies with 55.
The Wildcats will next be in action at the Silverado Shootout in Napa, Calif. at the Silverado Golf Course on April 8-10.
