It works, kind of. Needs massive app overhaul to make it a success
In an effort to try to rid myself of wearing my Garmin or Fitbit to bed so I can track my sleep, I decided that we'd try out a sleep tracking monitor that fits under the mattress. In theory this sounds good, but overall, it didn't do too well.Physical setup was rather easy - plug in the two sensors and the introductory video from the website was helpful. For two people in the bed, you place them under the pillow towards the edge of the bed.The app is easy downloadable, but what was rather annoying is that you have the option to pay $30 a year for "premium" services. That's not cool. The app was just poorly designed. You have to create an account with Sleeptracker (no options to link to Facebook or Google accounts?), and if you don't sleep alone, you have to have them register and "invite" them to bed (via email or text). That took a few tries to get working on our part, which required unplugging the device and re-running the setup. At this point you also have to specify which side of the bed you sleep on. The app also (wisely?) asked if there was a pet who shared the bed with you.As for testing, our first night we slept as normal, with the normal tossing and turning and space/blanket thievery that happens. For some reason, my sensor reported no data and the other one reported lots of quality data that somewhat compared to the Fitbit. The next night for the sake of testing, we swapped sides of the bed, and we got similar results where I got no data on the app and they got all the data, which was incredibly odd.As for data export, this just wrote to Apple Health. It would be way cooler if I could write this information to Fitbit (or wherever) directly from the app and not have to try to export data by hand. Ideally I'd like to dump this into Fitbit after I take it off for the night to charge. And the Sleeptracker is "Alexa compatible." This means there's an Alexa skill and you can ask Alexa how well you slept. That's pretty much it. It works, but I thought it would do a lot more.Overall I like this in theory - it picked up good data and worked with the latex mattress, but it's hard to justify the $200 cost and dealing with poor apps on top of a Fitbit or Garmin that does almost as good of a job. If I had bought this, I'd send it back.Update 03.17.2017:There must have been some serious delay because I had multiple days worth of sleep suddenly appear in my app. That makes me feel less excited. I've also attached photos.
