“Not Gaza, Not Lebanon, my soul for Iran.”
They’re saying they want a government that will stop funding the global jihad and take care of its own citizens.
“Iranian protest escalates, government cancels schools and trains,” by Yasser Okbi, Jerusalem Post, December 30, 2017:
The protests in Iranian escalated with over 4,000 people marching in the Iranian capital. Iranian authorities arrested 50 people during the protests that erupted across the country on Wednesday.
The Iranian government declared that trains and schools will be closed on Sunday because of the protests.
Social Media reported in Farsi and Arabic that the protesters are shouting slogans that include “Not Gaza, Not Lebanon, my soul for Iran” and ”Leave Syria, think of how we’re doing.”
The Iranian state television networked aired the annual pro-government demonstration that was started in 2009 in response to the last wave of anti-government protests….
In Qom, a holy city to Shi’ite Muslims and one of the most religious cities in Iran, residents also joined the protest against the Islamic republic.
The Iranian authorities warned citizens not to take part in any “unlawful assemblies” and cautioned that people who take part in protests might cause problems to themselves and others.

You got the first part wrong: Merkel licks Macron’s boots.

First point: much, if not all, of that money Iran has now obtained, thanks to Obama and Kerry, will now go into funding weapons and other supplies to Iran murderous terror proxies such as Hezbollah and Hamas. Second point: not too long ago young Iranian woman who now lives in an American city that I now also live in. This city has a newspaper and she wrote an article how she and her mother had returned from visiting her sick and dying grandmother in the hospital in Tehran in Iran In that article this young women explained that the medical and health care in Iran’s hospitals is so terrible that the people of Iran view hospitals s place that people go to not get better but to die. The reason the this second point is brought up is that the mullahs and ayatollahs as well as others in power in this Islamic tyranny Iran will not invest those news funds from, Obama and Kerry, in better health care in hospitals but instead use that money to engage in more support for brutal and murderous militant jihad organizations . For those tyrants in power in Iran don’t care, at all, about the Iranian people. They are only interested in furthering their mad jihad Islamic quest.

And don’t forget – North Korea.

“…. the French Resistance finally overcame their oppressor with…….outside assistance….”
What a fascinating way of putting it, JB; do you work for the French tourist board ? And Vichy France wasn’t – (at least, not officially) – “Nazi-occupied” – that was the whole point…..!
The Vichy government was French-run, nominally independent and administered 40% of France.
sally says
Vichy france was run by the nazis. Vichy france was our enemy in WW2.

Friends….these demonstrations are obviously heartening….reason for hope. But let’s look at it soberly; the regime is entrenched….and it will resort to violent repression in order to survive. Pundits have been pronouncing the postmortem of the Islamic Republic almost since its inception….and it always seems to survive.
The only hope of toppling the regime is if the current demonstrations escalate into the kind of numbers that overthrew the Shah….hundreds of thousands in the streets of Tehran…..even millions. And we’re a long way off from that.
Richard says
Absolutely !… But the mullahs are a lot more ruthless than the Shah was. America pressured the Shah to give up and leave. Who would be able to pressure the Mullahs? And the Mullahs will invoke God being on their side … Something very powerful in Islam, whether it is true or (certainly) not. That will make religious Muslims far more reluctant to revolt. They will have to overcome the fear not only of death in this world, but in the next. There is an old saying: God uses some people and some people use God.

The key question is the military, as every dictator of the third world knows. There we 40 some attempts on Hitler’s life. If one of them succeeded, a power grab would have followed.

All religions believe that God is on their side. And each adherent is just as sure they are right as any other. How many gods? How many sides?

Agreed, Cornelius.

This is a very good sign. Before this, I had only heard of protests in Tehran, which is one of the more liberal Iranian cities.
