‘Yaletown of Surrey’ hopes to change face of Whalley

Agency Adessa Visuals has released new renderings of Tien Sher’s upcoming Whalley District development, set to transform the former Flamingo Block in Surrey.

The development will include three towers — 46, 37 and 35 storeys — as well as a six-storey building. The first phase will include the 35-storey tower and the six-storey building. When complete, the entire project will add 1,119 new homes to Whalley, as well as new retail and park space.

The 4.3 acre property at King George and 107A Avenue will be built out over the next decade. Developer Tien Sher Homes is no stranger to the area, having built the successful low-rise Quattro development nearby. This will be their first highrise tower development in Surrey.

136A Street runs through the middle of the site and will be remade as the district’s “shopping street”, with retail space in the tower podiums. A water feature will run through the centre of the site, connecting all three towers.

The development was designed by Chris Dikeakos Architects.
