5 Lunch Spots on Campus You Need To Eat At

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter.

NYU is sandwiched between Greenwich Village and Soho, providing endless places to eat at for whatever food you’re craving. But at lunchtime, it can be a struggle to find a place to grab a quick bite between classes without breaking your wallet. If you’re looking for some new places to chow down at, here’s 5 restaurants around campus that are worth stopping at.

Ramen Takumi

Located right across from the Silver Center, Ramen Takumi is nestled on the corner of Waverly Place and University Place and serves up piping hot bowls of tasty noodles. You can either dine in with a group of friends or go solo and sit at the ramen bar. Either way, you’ll be served quickly and given generous portions of flavorful Japanese food. My go-to is the Curry Ramen: pleasantly salty and packed with plenty of vegetables like those found in traditional Japanese curry.

Masala Times

Sometimes you’re craving Indian food, but aren’t willing to sit down and order a bunch of dishes. Have no fear, Masala Times, located on Bleeker Street between MacDougal and Minetta Street, crafts up spice-packed curries, grilled kebabs, and savory rolls to dine in or take out. Order one of their Curry Boxes, served with your choice of curry, a side salad, rice, flatbread and daal, and there’s no doubt you’ll leave with your belly full.

Bowllin’

Maybe you’re in the mood for something more healthy, but still filling. If this describes you, then head to Bowllin’ on Waverly to grab yourself a veggie and protein packed Korean rice bowl, known as bibimbap. You can either pick one of their premade menu items or create your own bowl as you please. The service is fast so you’ll be in and out in a flash. Try their most popular bowl, the Samgyupsal (or pork belly) bowl, but they run out quick so get there as soon as your class gets out.

Bagel Bob’s

NYC is known for their amazing bagels, and sometimes you just want to live like a New Yorker right? One of NYU’s most touted bagel spots, Bagel Bob’s, is whipping up sandwiches and bagel schmears for anyone stepping in their door. Their bagels are slathered with cream cheese and are bound to leave you licking your lips after each bite. If the bagels weren’t enough to sell you, they also have a 10 percent discount for all students, just show your ID when you pay.

Dumpling Kingdom

Often times, there’s nothing better than fast, cheap, and delicious Chinese food. Dumpling Kingdom has got you covered. Serving up a variety of dumplings at extremely affordable prices, Dumpling Kingdom is located on Sullivan Street just steps away from NYU Law School. Pair the dumplings with their Red Bean bun to have a full meal for just over 10 dollars. Their noodle soups and savory pancakes are also tasty and generously portioned as well.

Be sure to try one of these places the next time you’re looking to switch up your lunch routine!
