New York Giants cornerback Eli Apple called teammate Landon Collins a liar by saying that he has never spoken to Collins.

Thursday, New York Giants cornerback Eli Apple disputed teammate Landon Collins’ claim that the two have spoken during a dismal season for Big Blue.

According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, Collins said that he and a couple of other Giants players have had “sit-downs” with Apple throughout the season. Apple has had a rough season and Collins and the others were trying to help him through it.

“We need him to be here, we need him to want to be here and not fighting against us,’’ Collins said. “If he’s fighting against the coaches or the organization or whoever he’s fighting against in his head, we don’t need him fighting us. That causes conflict.’’

However, the cornerback denied that he talked with Collins.

“Landon, no, but I talked to Brandon Marshall. DRC [Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie] always been a good person to talk to because he kinda went through the same thing when he was like around my age a little bit. I just talked to some of the guys and it helped me out,” he told Schwartz.

Collins was shocked that Eli had said that they had never spoken.

“That’s what he said? I guess he don’t remember things then,’’ he said. “But I’m not about to start that conversation with me and my teammate. It is what it is. I know what I did. I’ve spoken highly of him, but it is what it is.’’

Collins, however, made sure to get one more shot in.

Speaking of Twitter, Apple was fined for tweeting on the sidelines during last Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. The amount of the fine is unknown. Apple has been inactive for the last four weeks. He said that he expects to play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, however, coaches haven’t told him if he’ll be active or not.

Just another ugly distraction in what’s been an ugly season for the Giants.
