Singer-Songwriter Floyd Parton, Brother of Dolly Parton, Dead at 61

Floyd Parton, singer-songwriter and brother of Dolly Parton, died on Dec. 6 at the age of 61.

Parton, a resident of Sevierville, Tenn., wrote "Rockin' Years," which Dolly Parton recorded with Ricky Van Shelton, and "Nickel and Dimes," featured on Dolly Parton's 1978 album Heartbreaker.

According to his obituary, Floyd Parton is also remembered as an outdoorsman and a talented cook.

On Dec. 6, Stella Parton shared a photo of herself and her brother, writing "'And Jesus said to him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.' Have a beautiful day on this bright and brisk Thursday. I am spending the day with my beautiful brother Floyd."

Floyd Parton is survived by his siblings and their spouses as well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
